What Are Claude Code Skills?

A skill is a reusable instruction file that tells Claude Code exactly how to do a specific marketing task. Instead of writing a new prompt every time, you write the instructions once and run them with a single command.

We have built 46 marketing skills so far. Each one handles a different part of running our agency: content creation, competitor research, client onboarding, ad copy, email sequences, pricing strategy, CRO audits.

How a Skill Works

Each skill is a markdown file stored in a skills folder. When you run /weekly-content or /seo-audit, Claude Code reads that file and follows the instructions. The skill knows your client’s voice, your brand guidelines, and your preferred output format.

This is different from prompting ChatGPT: the skill has context. It reads your client’s CLAUDE.md file, their style guide, their content history. The output sounds like your client, not like generic AI.

Why Not Just Use Prompt Templates?

Templates are static. Skills are dynamic. They read your project files, adapt to client context, and produce output that fits your workflow. A template gives you generic content. A skill gives you content that sounds like you wrote it.

Getting Started

Start with the task you do most often. Write out how you want it done, save it as a markdown file, run it, refine it. Once one skill works well, you will see opportunities everywhere.
